This is one of the best vintage banjos for Irish Trad. This Majestic Deluxe was built by Gaetano Francesco “Thomas”Puntolillo of New York City and later Lyndhust NJ. The Majestic line of banjos are often listed with a tone ring patent of June 29,1920. In my research I have discovered 17 different tone ring configurations in Majestic banjos. This banjo features the tone ring design using round brass ring which sits on studs on top of a thick flat brass bar.
Neck - made from Brazilian rosewood with 2 3 piece laminations and a multi colored back strap. The fingerboard is ebony and features 8 mother of pearl inlays. The peghead also has elaborate mother of pearl inlays and the Majestic De-Luxe inlay. The orginal gold plated tuners have mother of pearl buttons.
Rim - is made of a multi ply maple with Brazilian rosewood veneer with the tone ring as described above. The resonator is also Brazilian rosewood with multi-wood marquetry, purfling, and bindings.
Setup - It is setup with a low action in GDAE tuning.
Case - Original case is included, note the handle is not original
Notes - This was my "main player" for the past 2 years. There is very minor fret wear. There is a small piece of binding missing on the neck where it meets the rim. The finish on the back of the resonator is a little cloudy. The plating shows its age but blends well with the banjo.
