Slingerland Nite Hawk tenor banjo in restored condition. This is a beautiful looking and sounding banjo setup for Irish in GDAE tuning. These banjos are hard to find and fantastic trad and session banjos and will rival any of the popular trad banjos.
The neck is walnut with new frets and a 22.5" scale length. Striking green underlay on the peghead and black/green/black backstap provide the perfect colors for a trad banjo as seen from the side of the peghead. A rather simple peghead design keeps with the understated is more design of this banjo.
The rim is 10 3/4" with veneer of walnut and multi-color marquetry inlaid around the outside. The tone ring consists of a "spun over" tone ring which sits on a brass rod on top of brass studs in the rim. The resonator is also walnut with 2 stripes of marquetry and a painted decal preserved on the back. The metal parts are all original unless noted and are in excellent condition with the exception of a few hooks. It also has the original armrest (not pictured) which has some wear through the nickel showing the brass.
The tailpiece is a new 4 hump that would represent a typical tailpiece on the nicer Slingerland banjos. There is a Remo Renaissance head installed, 5/8" maple/ebony bridge, and nickel strings. The tuners are also new high quality, very smooth 4:1 pancake tuners. The case is original and has been touched up with paint in a few spots on the exterior. The handle has been taped.
