This is a Style X No. 9 built by the Vega Company in Boston. The large pot and extended fingerboard make this the most desirable configuration of the Style X's. The beautiful inlay work, carvings, and rim cap make this banjo of joy to play and admire.
Neck - The neck is made of stunning flame maple with a crisp heel carving. The peghead is a "pearwood" with intricate mother of pearl inlay. There is also a "Vega" star inlay on the back of the peghead. Another inlay is on the heel cap. The extended ebony fingerboard has 8 inlays.
Rim - The rim boasts the powerful 11-13/16 Tubaphone tone ring which sits on a maple rim with tortoise binding. There is a beautiful multi-colored purfling on the rim cap.
Setup - This is setup for Irish trad in GDAE tuning.
Case - New Gold Tone case is included
Notes - This banjo received new frets, new binding, new ABM small shaft tuners with the original pearl buttons fitted, new head, new hooks and nuts, new tailpiece, and a finish rejuvenation. All the original parts will be included with the sale.
